Pseudo & Morph features a meditative performance on the devolution of the human body and its ability to shift into an amorphous state. This meditation is intended to diffuse gender pairing, silhouetting a nude male and juxtaposing him against Scoggins’ signature video installation.
The approximation of Pseudo & Morphs:
In biology: A cephalopod’s ability to project a ink cloud assuming the approximate shape of it’s self.
In mineralogy: Objects are reduced, oxidized or substituted, elements are added and a replication takes place. Forms or minerals can then shift back and forth between each other.
In philosophy: When a more powerful civilization acquires the form of less powerful civilization.
The ideas center around replication as a form of evolution, intellectually and socially.
Individuality and self-identity are elements of Pseudo-Morphs, an experience that enables
replication via an eternal loop of cut, copy, and paste.
