Art Basel Miami 2017 - Polaroid Originals partnered with Juxtapoz Magazine and Adidas Skateboarding on the Juxtapoz Club House and Urban Nation Artist Dinner. The clubhouse was a complete takeover of a iconic 3-story department store in Downtown Miami. The exhibition included art installations, murals, and site-specific projects alongside a special Adidas Showcase and featured the works by the likes of Shepard Fairey, Conor Harrington, Ron English, Low Bros, Jillian Evelyn, Alex Yanes, and Parker Day. We captured and shared the event with Polaroid Originals, creating a tangible memory for visitors.
Join us in Miami Saturday December 9th from 2:30pm-4:30pm at Casa Faena to celebrate the second edition of Parker Day's distinguished book, ICONS. Day's signature series blurs the line between reality and fantasy through a saturated view on the characterization of self.
Parker Day is a Los Angeles-based artist whose work explores personality and identity. Through costuming and exaggerated expressions, Day highlights the truth of who and what she portrays. She deliberately eschews Photoshop in favor of in-camera capture on film. Lurid color bathes her work and heightens the surreality of her subjects while the grain and grit of the photographs make them palpably real. @heyparkerday
Join us at the Faena Bazaar for Miami Art Week 2016 at 3400 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, Fl 33140.
In collaboration with We Came In Peace, Nathaly Charria has created a site-specific installation by Yoon Lee and curated the Sunset Gallery, located on the 4th floor of the Faena Bazaar, featuring works by John Rollins, Amanda Keeley, Deon Rubi, Jessica Martin, and Jonathan Gonzalez. The gallery is open every day for sunset 4pm-6pm.
The Faena Bazaar is a groundbreaking retail experience that merges contemporary art and commerce. Designed by OMA, the firm founded by Rem Koolhaas and curated in collaboration with Kelly Framel and Zachary Lynd, the Faena Bazaar was developed on the promise of discovery and rooted in cultural integrations that present a new retail paradigm: a modern souk, and a stage for the world’s most remarkable brands to present a high-concept, experiential version of themselves.
There are few places I’d like to escape to, immerse myself within, and melt into my arms for all time. Nestled within the back garden of the Soho Beach House Miami, Los Angeles-based artist Kenton Parker created a sanctuary to adolescent romance. Throughout the chaos of Art Basel Miami 2014, Parker’s treehouse was host to hatching cocoons, monarch butterflies, and teeny tiny ragers in a 4x4 space that felt like home. Parker is known for his site-specific projects that radiate with a nostalgic energy that actually transcends time and space.
Alongside the sounds of Nirvana I doodled butterflies and flowers on the wall, laid back and entered a dreamworld where Parker and Bill Nye traveled across galaxies. Thank you my dear friend for this absolutely beautiful experience. This is my favorite piece of Art Basel Miami 2014 and a contender in the category for all time. I hope to see this piece in a very special collection, preferably in a place where I can escape from time to time into the memory of My First Kiss .
Deon Rubi is the Nom de Guerre of artist and designer Lucila Garcia De Onrubia. Originally from Argentina, DEONRUBI was given to the artist by the American school system and since, became the moniker for all of her creative practices. From being featured in the Perez Art Museum Miami (PAMM Shop) to collaborations with artists like Magnus Sodamin, and her iconic graphics by Miami muralist Serge Toussaint, Deon Rubi has become a recognized name within the Miami community.
Both fans of expanding the experience of art through wearable works, Natology's collaboration and representation of Deon Rubi was as natural as the hand-shaped acrylic pieces in this exclusive series of Wearable Sculpture. Deon Rubi was featured by Natology at Scope Miami Beach 2014 and welcomed into various private collections including prominent New York City collector and art matron Elizabeth A Sackler.
Below is the Wearable Sculpture collection for Natology and images from our first studio visit where Deon Rubi's blend of minimalist design, traditional jewelry technique and repurposed materials made its way into my heart.
