Art Basel Miami 2017 - Polaroid Originals partnered with Juxtapoz Magazine and Adidas Skateboarding on the Juxtapoz Club House and Urban Nation Artist Dinner. The clubhouse was a complete takeover of a iconic 3-story department store in Downtown Miami. The exhibition included art installations, murals, and site-specific projects alongside a special Adidas Showcase and featured the works by the likes of Shepard Fairey, Conor Harrington, Ron English, Low Bros, Jillian Evelyn, Alex Yanes, and Parker Day. We captured and shared the event with Polaroid Originals, creating a tangible memory for visitors.
The Festival of Disruption is a music, art, and film festival curated by David Lynch. As part of the festivities, Polaroid Originals partnered up with the David Lynch Foundation to present a creative reproduction of the iconic Red Room portrayed in Lynch’s pioneering television series, Twin Peaks. Festival goers were able to take photos in a reproduction of the red curtain encased set on the unforgettable chevron patterned floor while sitting in the original chairs used in filming. Participants received one unique print shot of their visit to The Red Room using the new Polaroid OneStep 2 instant analog camera, courtesy of Polaroid. Curatorial expert Nathaly Charria was brought on board to steer the project’s creative reproduction for Polaroid and the David Lynch Foundation.
In addition to the Red Room recreation, Charria created an 8x10 Polaroid gallery space to exhibit Duochrome Polaroids shot by David Lynch on the set of Twin Peaks, 2016.
“Film is like a performance. it is permanent you can't alter the moment. Sure you can alter the negative in the dark room, but the negative is this document that can't be altered. Structure it however you’d like, I just enjoy the process and ultimately I want to make art that I like to look at. Nothing can really touch a pristine silver gelatin print in my mind,” Jacqueline Elaine Gomez.
